Recently, two of our third year students took part in French exchange. Here is an account of their time together, both in Ireland and in France, written by our third year Olivia Flanagan.
When the girls first arrived, we brought them to Galway to do some shopping and to listen to the buskers on the street. After a few days of school, we had a football match so we took them to watch and they found it very interesting. We also brought them to a volleyball training. We then brought them to Lahinch to enjoy the sunshine and go swimming in the pool! Over the weekend we brought them to Inis Oírr which they loved, they had never seen a shipwreck before so that was interesting.
Then we went to France! The first day of school was very interesting, they start school at 8:25am and finish at 5pm, which was very different to ours. They have a 1 hour and 30 minute lunch break in the canteen where we were given different foods each day, the first day we had pasta carbonara! During the English class the French students asked us questions about what school is like in Ireland.
At the weekend we visited Ronce les Bains which is a very touristy destination with a beach and an arcade! We also visited a lighthouse which was very interesting aswell. For the last day of the weekend we went to Royan which is a town not far from where we were staying, where we did lots of shopping! All in all it was a great trip, everyone in France was so welcoming to us and we had a great time!
