Katie O'Kane receiver award at CSO Awards Ceremony

Congratulations to Katie O’Kane on being awarded second prize in the John Hooper Statistical Poster Competition for her entry entitled Fashion over Function: Do Polo Wraps cause more harm than good. This was an amazing result as there are only three prizes awarded in the competition.

Katie attended the CSO Awards Ceremony in Croke Park on Wednesday 15 October 2025. Katie addressed the attendees with an account of her project. Katie gave a fabulous presentation on her project.

The John Hooper Statistical Poster Competition is one of Ireland’s most respected and prestigious schools’ competitions. The competition is named after the first Director of Statistics of the Irish Free State and has become hugely popular with both students and teachers alike.

Katie, you did your parents, school and mentor (John Sims) proud with your success in the competition and in your presentation in Croke Park. Congratulations to you from all in Mary immaculate.
